You may be surprised to learn that yes, Dollar Tree accepts coupons! Dollar Tree is one of the easiest places to score freebies using paper coupons and couponing apps because everything is already only $1. Look out for coupons with either low size restrictions or with zero restrictions to get products completely free!
What Coupons Can you Use at Dollar Tree?
- You can use up to 4 of the same coupon per customer per day.
- You can use coupons valued at over $1, the price will be adjusted down.
- You can use up to two internet printable coupons per day.
- You can only use free item coupons when a purchase is required – for example: buy one get one free.
You can even use coupons valued at over $1! For example, if you had a $3/2 coupon you can easily use that to get two products for free. The cashier will just adjust the amount down to cover the cost of the products. You will not get overage or cashback at Dollar Tree, the amount will always get matched to the cost.

What Brands Can You Even Find at Dollar Tree?
Dollar Tree carries a surprisingly large amount of brand-name items like Lysol, Dove, Ajax, Speed Stick, Kelloggs, General Mills, and more. Many items will only be available for a short period of time as Dollar Tree is constantly bringing new stock out in their stores. They also frequently sell overstock or surplus of name brand products. So if you visit your store and can’t find any items to match up, don’t despair! Check back in a week or two and you’ll likely find new brands! Also, be aware that stock drastically varies from store to store. If you have a few different locations in your area be sure to check them all out!
You can also buy Sunday newspapers at some Dollar Tree locations and get your coupon inserts for $1 each! The Sunday paper is almost $4 at most stores in my area so I save a major chunk of change every week by buying my papers at Dollar Tree instead!
What to do if your Dollar Tree won’t take your coupons
Per the Dollar Tree coupon policy, all stores accept manufacturer coupons. Unfortunately for us, couponing is not something that very many employees are properly trained on. Dollar Tree actually has a specific FAQ on their website about how to submit feedback for Dollar Tree locations that refuse coupons so they can follow up with that store.
If you run into trouble at your local store you can load the Dollar Tree couponing policy from the corporate website and either show it on your phone screen or even print out a hard copy to bring in the store. Most managers/cashiers won’t put up any further fuss about scanning coupons after seeing that their own policy clearly states they accept coupons.
